Sonneborn is active worldwide in the production of refined petroleum products. Because these liquids are flammable, reliable fire protection is crucial.
For the Sonneborn site in Amsterdam, we supplied a complete system. In this project, we deliberately chose not to use an electric motor, but instead to install a diesel skid. This ensures that the entire system remains operational in the event of a power failure.
To optimally protect the storage of flammable liquids, heavy foam is used. In the event of an incident, this completely covers the concrete bund in which the storage tanks are placed. The foam forms a thick, insulating layer over the liquid, cutting off oxygen and effectively extinguishing the fire.
In addition, we integrated a proportioning system that ensures the correct ratio of foam concentrate and water. This guarantees a consistent quality of foam, so that the system performs optimally in every situation.
