Past, present and future
InnoVfoam was founded in 2003 by Mr. Johan A.S. Koekkoek. In the 17 years before InnoVfoam got its start, he worked for several different companies. The foundations were laid during that time, as he observed and internalised all of the positive and negative examples and right and wrong decisions he encountered.
‘Apply the good and avoid the bad’ became the motto behind the current corporate culture within our company.
1990 – Joined the Dutch subsidiary of the Swedish company Svenska Skum AB. This turned out to be a mecca for mechanical engineers, where technology and commerce went together perfectly hand-in-hand. The years that followed were all about sowing the seeds and reaping the rewards of high expansion foam systems in particular, first in the BeNeLux, and then later in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. These were wonderful years spent together with a small team of about 25 employees. Swedish technology was a success!
2003 – The foundation of InnoVfoam! The year was dominated by countless visits to customers and picking up the crumbs that others dropped. It was a year that saw significant losses. The seeds sown in 2003 then reaped a modest profit in 2004. The trust of customers had been earned and orders started to come in.
2004 – The company expanded to 8 employees in 2008, with everyone still working via VoIP and from their private homes. Of these employees, 6 came from Svenska Skum. They all knew the ropes already and were able to work very well in this set-up.
2008 – It became clear that InnoVfoam’s image was standing in the way of further growth. It was too small to take on the big jobs. New employees could not be properly trained in this private environment. Plans developed to acquire the company’s own business site. A new building was chosen at the Breekland business park in the Dutch village of Oudkarspel.
In order to live up to its name, InnoVfoam – Innovation in foam systems, a commercial building was developed with a design and layout intended to house demonstration and development facilities. Every extinguishing foam system for all of the target groups were integrated into the building and used in demonstrations during seminars for visitors.
2009 – At the end of the year, the business relocated into the new office building and a festive ceremony marked the opening in the spring of 2010.
2012 – The year of the demerger: Mr. Bulthuis’ shares were acquired by Mr. Koekkoek, and management activities fell under the responsibility of one person.
2014 – The branch in Denmark operating under the name of Dansale-InnoVfoam ApS opened this year.
2016 – To create a more stable future for the company, the decision was taken to form a 4-member management team. The aim was to avoid a management vacuum for the company in the event of any unforeseen circumstances.
2018 – The helicopter pad was built on the roof of the headquarters. From that moment on, helicopters could be used to demonstrate the capabilities of the various extinguishing systems for helicopter pads.
2019 – The aim of further developing the business as a knowledge company and of testing and demonstrating the systems that have been developed in-house in particular, laid the foundations for a plan that ultimately led to the construction of the Research & Development Centre in the form of an aircraft hangar.
2020 – The aircraft makes it possible to experience the capabilities of the various extinguishing systems in each risk area on the hangar. Take a seat, put on a pair of VR glasses and experience a 360 degree view of every singles detail of the extinguishing system!
